Corn comes to Europe from America together with potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes and many other plants. And here is the way the native Americans have been planting it.
Saw seeds/plant seedlings in the rows (corn likes rich and fertile soil), between the rows plant beans as they are excellent nitrogen fixer plus corns are going to be their stalks. In the bed's corners plant pumpkins as they are natural prickly barrier against corn loving possums (raccoons in America).
