- Choose the site. It could be ground or concrete. In any case you'll need to make supporting walls.
- Put the first layer – cardboard. Be very thorough when overlapping it as you don't want spend too much time fighting with weeds later. - Put the second layer – Lucerne or hay. Lucerne is more expensive but better as it has more nitrogen. - Put the second layer – soil mixed with good quality manure. - Then the third layer – Lucerne (or hay) again. - Make the holes in the bed and fill them with the soil mixed with manure. - Plant seedling in the holes. Water. In the first half year don't plant root veggies (radish, carrot etc.)as your bed will sink about 40 – 50 %. After the first harvest add more Lucerne, hay, soil manure and plant again. Good luck!

Carnation flowers are not just pretty, but also edible. They have a slightly mustardy taste and make a very good addition to your salad. This flower may provide relief from pain, swelling and infections and also has been used in the treatment of a variety of ills, from acting as a stimulant to antispasmodic.
Making compost is easy, it improves your soil, plus you save money and its also a nice way to support the environment by reducing waste.
Corn comes to Europe from America together with potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes and many other plants. And here is the way the native Americans have been planting it.
Saw seeds/plant seedlings in the rows (corn likes rich and fertile soil), between the rows plant beans as they are excellent nitrogen fixer plus corns are going to be their stalks. In the bed's corners plant pumpkins as they are natural prickly barrier against corn loving possums (raccoons in America). |
